Exclusive Interview with Lily Dyble from Voice Lymm
What group are you in and what do you do?I’m part of Voice Lymm, a youth choir and orchestra designed to spread the word of God through music. We come together as a group on a regular basis to rehearse numbers, both for enjoyment and future performances. Voice offers a variety of opportunities for young people to express their passion for serving God through their gifts. How long have you been in Voice and how do you get involved in the first place?I’ve been a member of the choir since January last year when the group was brought together to perform in a fundraiser for a Mexico trip. It was then that the group really took off, and Voice became a regular activity. What other experiences do you have of music and performing?I take part in a variety of performing arts activities. I’m a member of Warrington Symphony orchestra, where I play the trombone. I also play the trombone in school brass band, sing with Lymm High School Senior choir, and dance with Ambitions dance school. I also play the piano. What is it like being a part of Voice?Being a member of Voice is so amazing! It feels so good to be able to glorify God through singing. I’m passionate about all aspects of music, whether it’s singing in a choir, playing an instrument or just listening to it. Applying my passion for music with my love for God is so brilliant. I feel connected with God now, I feel like I have a special connection with Him when I sing. Voice has helped me with my faith and has brought me closer to God. I’ve met new people and come closer to friends through Voice. It’s been an amazing bonding experience, both with friends and God. How is Voice different from your other groups?Voice is very different from any other activity . The key thing is that with Voice I’m not singing for me, or for anyone else, but truly for God. That’s the thing that makes singing with Voice so amazing, you're being part of a bigger picture. When you sing a song you're not singing it for you, you're singing for God and you're singing to spread his amazing joy. What’s your favourite Voice song and why?My favourite Voice song is probably either 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' or 'By Your Side'. When I hear 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' I automatically think of Voice as it was one of the songs we sang at our very first concert. The harmonies are beautiful and we all connected with the song which made it even more special. 'By Your Side' is also a beautiful song. I love Tenth Avenue North - they’re my favourite band and their music, spirit and ability to influence people is amazing. The lyrics in the song are so personal. 'I’ll be by your side wherever you fall in the dead of night whenever you call' is like a reminder to us all that God is with us whatever we do, wherever we are. But at the same time the song works the other way around: 'Cos I love you, I want you to know, that I, I love you I’ll never let you go'. To me that’s God saying he’ll always love us and hold onto us, but also that we love him and will never let go. The song shows how God is with us, but also that our connection with God is a two way thing and we too, will never let go. You feature in the song 'Love Is Here' by Tenth Avenue North. What is this song about and what does it mean to you?The song 'Love Is Here' is another of my favourites. It’s about how God’s love is so amazing and so powerful, how He loved us so much that he sacrificed his own son to save us. It shows us how merciful he is: 'streams of mercy flowing from his sides'. This song means a lot to me because it helps remind me of how much God loves me and all the amazing things He does, not just for me but for everyone: 'And to the bruised and fallen captives bound and broken hearted, He is the Lord.' God will always be our God no matter who we are or what we’ve done. He will always love us. |
