Voice in SchoolsVoice delivers projects in primary and secondary schools aimed at sharing some of the Christian faith with young people. The projects are individually designed for each school depending on their objectives and requirements. This could mean anything from recording a school album, to putting on a concert, or supporting the school’s collective worship and assembly programme.Below are examples of school projects we have delivered. For further information and to discuss how Voice can develop a school project to meet your own objectives please contact us. Case Study 1: Little Bollington Primary School ProjectVoice spent four days at Little Bollington Primary school teaching the children a variety of songs, some secular, others faith-based, covering issues from creation and the power of God, to being unique and self-confident, to knowing that God loves you and is always there for you. At the end of the week every child in the school recorded a school album and performed in a concert at the local church.Mrs. Johnstone, Headteacher: "We ran a Voice project because our children love singing and secondly, as a Church School, we wanted to hold an event to bring both churches in our parish together and a concert of Christian songs seemed a great idea. For four intensive days Simon worked with each of our classes to get them in to the concert mood. It was great - he had a super relationship with all ages from 4 -11 year olds. As well as working hard, they learned a great deal and had lots of laughs along the way! The children presented a fantastic concert. Simon has a very relaxed, interactive style and both performers and audience left the church with a real buzz!" This is a bit tricky with no music specialists and a Chaplain who finds it a challenge to hold a tune. I did my best with a tiny sound system and a CD, but my repertoire and skill were severely limited. It is hard to encourage pupils to sing when you are most confident miming! Then I found Simon, rather I was given a flyer for Voice and caught up with him at a concert. After two workshops with all of Year 7 and 8 and two rehearsals with the choir, we had a group ready to sing in a Christmas celebration at St Thomas church in Ellesmere Port. The performance had soloists and harmonies, it was amazing! Just as amazing was the assembly when 180 Year 7 pupils sang, with confidence, with enjoyment and pride. The teaching staff were stunned and in awe! They had never thought that we would hear singing in assembly." |
