By Esther – Voice Leader
Just a few months ago, in May of this year, we were able to run a mini Voice tour! We performed two concerts throughout the day, with the first in Warrington and the second in Liverpool. They were our first performances involving many of our different Voice groups, including both junior and youth members, since the pandemic, and it was so exciting to be able to reconnect in person and worship together!
Although our concerts featured a variety of songs, the main theme was centred around the song “Louder” by Matt Redman. For me, the lyrics emphasise the power of praise and how amazing and important it is to worship and glorify God. Whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, He is worthy of our praise! I’ve included some of my favourite lyrics from the song below:
“There’s a song that cannot be contained
There’s a shout that breaks through every chain
God we won’t be silent
There’s a faith that rises through the flames
There’s a joy that chases the dark away
God we won’t be silent
And the greater the storm
The louder our song
We lift our voices, lift our voices
Make Your praise so glorious, glorious
We lift our voices, lift our voices
Make Your praise so glorious”
One highlight of our tour for me was during our Liverpool concert when the youth choir performed a song called “Future” by Jordan Feliz. Although the last few years have been difficult in many ways due to the pandemic, I felt such assurance and joy as I was reminded that God goes before us and makes a way, and we don’t need to worry or be afraid because we know that He holds the future in His hands. Another highlight for me was being able to perform a song I wrote myself called “Praise Him Yet”. Although I was nervous beforehand, as I have only ever performed one of my own songs for an audience once before, I felt complete peace in the moment as I realised that I had been given a precious opportunity to sing my praise to God. In the last few years, songwriting has been such a blessing to me! I want to share what God has done in my life and faith journey so far and use the gifts He has given me for His glory. As I continue in my songwriting experience, my prayer is that God will use my music to reach others and to speak into their lives.
As the pandemic eases further, I am so excited to see what is to come as God’s hand continues to work in and through our Voice community! 😊
‘Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!’
Psalm 95:1-2 (ESV)
