In June, our junior choir groups were invited to spend the weekend together to make lots of music, to learn more about God and to have fun together. A great time was had by all, children and leaders alike! The theme of the weekend was ‘Speak Life’, following on from our Voice classic by TobyMac. We spent the weekend reflecting on how God gives us life, both by creating us and giving us eternal life through Jesus’s death on the cross. Each part included games, crafts and lots of energetic games, with plenty of snacks and hot chocolate, too!
The songs that we focussed on then encouraged us to reflect on how we can share this awesome news with those around us and be people who are kind and uplifting in our speech. To encourage the children to have a go at sharing this with others, we sang as a group at a local nursing home. Much to the delight of us all, they said that every song was a 10/10! Finally, a Voice performance featuring our juniors, youth and children from a local primary school wrapped up our time together on Saturday evening. This formed part of Lymm Festival, a local celebration of the arts, allowing us to speak life into the community around. The highlight for me was singing The Proof of Your Love by For King and Country. To hear all the groups with their different parts come together for a powerful anthem about how our actions must align with our words was so beautiful and moving.
Overall, we had a wonderful time, and would love to thank each team member and volunteer who helped to make it possible.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:10
