Going to the junior Voice residential for the first time, it was inspiring to see the joy and energy that the children were filled with and their excitement for the week ahead. Being quite a quiet person, I had never really considered myself to be a leader, but throughout the residential I definitely grew in my confidence, as well as my faith.
One of my favourite parts of the residential was exploring the different ways we can worship God. Through painting and crafts, we looked at bible verses and gave thanks to God for all he provides us with. In small groups we talked about showing love to others, the importance of kindness and friendship, and how God shows love to us. Through our music, showcased at the end of the week, we learnt about how we are God’s special possessions and that he loves each and every one of us individually.
“You are God’s special possession. He called you out of darkness into his wonderful light so that you may declare his praise.” 1 Peter 2:9
With fun activities each day, we looked at our theme for the week which was ‘Kaleidoscope’, and how we can see God’s love through things in our everyday lives. This was also the title of one of our songs, by far everyone’s favourite to perform! In free-time, there were games and activities for everyone to join in with, and everybody was so kind and welcoming, with enthusiasm every day.
Overall, the junior voice residential was a fun-filled week, and with kindness and friendliness from all of the kids and team, it was a pleasure to be a part of!
